Biography

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF J. VINCENT KOLLIE, JR. J. Vincent Kollie, Jr. is a distinguished Liberian legal professional, Magistrate Trainer, and judicial administrator whose career reflects resilience, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to the justice sector. He graduated from the University of Liberia in 2007, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in Sociology and a minor in Demography. He enrolled at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law (University of Liberia) during the 2008/2009 academic year. Despite maintaining exceptional grades, he had to temporarily pause his legal studies in 2010 due to financial constraints. In 2010, he enrolled in Professional Magistrate Training Program (PMTP) Cycle I—a landmark program sponsored by the Government of Liberia (through the Judiciary), the United States Government (through USAID), the German Government (through GIZ), and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). He graduated in 2011 as a certified Professional Magistrate. Magistrate Kollie was appointed by the President of the Republic of Liberia as an Associate Magistrate assigned to the Gbarnga City Magisterial Court in Bong County in 2011. He returned to the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law in 2017/2018, successfully graduating with the class of 2020/2021. He was formally admitted into the Liberia National Bar as an Attorney-At-Law in 2021. Recognizing his extensive field experience and exemplary work ethic, he was seconded to the James A. A. Pierre Judicial Training Institute as a Magistrate Trainer in 2022. In this ongoing role, he facilitates comprehensive capacity-building trainings for actors across all levels of the justice sector. He was elected unopposed as Secretary General for the National Association of Trial Judges of Liberia (NATJL) in 2024 for his first term. Magistrate Kollie was re-elected unopposed to a second two-year term in 2026, a position he currently holds.
