About NATJL
The National Association of Trial Judges of Liberia (NATJL) is the professional organization representing circuit judges, specialized court judges, and magistrates across the Republic of Liberia.
NATJL acts as the collective body for trial-level judicial officers, advocating for judicial independence, professional standards, and continuing legal education.
The body represents Liberian trial judges internationally, including through its association with bodies like the International Association of Judges (IAJ).
Trial judges and judicial officers in Liberia are categorized by the judiciary's administrative structure:
* Category II: Circuit Judges of the Republic
* Category II-A: Judges of Specialized Courts (e.g., Labor, Traffic, Juvenile)
* Category III-B/C: Magistrates and Associate Magistrates, trained via systems like the James A.A. Pierre Judicial Training Institute.
